Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
- 8 slider buns or small hoagie rolls
- 8 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- 8 slices melted cheddar cheese
- Optional toppings: pickles, onions, or jalapeños
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly incorporated. Form into 1-1.5 inch meatballs.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Cook the meatballs, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through. Alternatively, bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 15 minutes.
- Add bourbon BBQ sauce to the skillet with meatballs. Toss to coat evenly and simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- While simmering, toast the buns lightly. Place 2-3 meatballs on each bun, spoon extra sauce, top with cheddar cheese slices, and sprinkle chopped bacon over.
- Place assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Add optional toppings like pickles, onions, or jalapeños.
Notes
- Use high-quality ingredients or experiment with different cheeses and toppings for enhanced flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored separately in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat meatballs on stove or microwave and toast buns before serving.
- For gluten-free, substitute breadcrumbs with crushed gluten-free crackers or oats.
