Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large tart apples (Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional for drizzling)
- Cooking spray or oil spray for greasing
Instructions
- Wash the apples thoroughly. Core and slice into 1/4-inch thick fries or wedges.
- In a bowl, place the flour. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
- Dip each apple fry into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the apple fries with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Check for crispiness and adjust time as needed.
- Transfer to a serving plate. Optionally drizzle with honey or serve with caramel sauce. Enjoy hot!
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Fuji to prevent mushiness.
- Adjust cooking time based on slice thickness for perfect crispiness.
- Try different coatings such as crushed cookies or granola for variety.
- Serve immediately for best crunch, or store in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
