Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large apples (preferably Fuji or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Optional: caramel sauce or melted chocolate for dipping
Instructions
- Wash and core the apples. Cut them into evenly sized sticks, about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Toss the apple sticks in lemon juice to prevent oxidation.
- Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, cinnamon, and sugar.
- Dip each apple stick into the flour, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly with the cinnamon-sugar panko mixture. Gently press to ensure the coating sticks well.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the coated apple sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding touching for even crisping. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp for best results.
- For gluten-free options, substitute flour and panko with almond flour or gluten-free panko.
- Serve warm with caramel sauce or chocolate for extra indulgence.
- Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
