Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry or homemade dough
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pastry dough on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut into 1-inch circles using a cookie cutter or glass.
- Place circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spoon a small amount of cheese into the center of each circle.
- Fold the edges slightly to create a thumbprint shape, pinching gently to seal the cheese inside.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately dollop hot pepper jelly into the center of each thumbprint.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Feel free to swap the cheese for your favorites such as Monterey Jack or Pepperjack.
- For a spicier kick, add extra hot pepper jelly or diced jalapeños inside.
