Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and prepare by chopping the onion and garlic, measuring orzo and broth.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Add chopped onions to the skillet and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Mix in the diced tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil.
- Add the orzo pasta, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes or until orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid. Stir occasionally.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and sprinkle with grated cheese if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- Stir occasionally during simmering to prevent sticking.
- Use high-quality beef broth for best flavor.
- Adjust cooking time based on package instructions for the orzo.
- If mixture becomes too thick, add a splash of hot water or broth.
