Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, fresh or slightly day-old for better texture
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar or cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them evenly in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the chocolate chips generously over the croissant pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the custard evenly over the croissant and chocolate layers, pressing down gently. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or cocoa powder if desired. Serve warm with whipped cream or fresh berries for an added touch.
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use chopped chocolate instead of chips.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes to keep the croissants crispy.
- Add nuts or dried fruits for extra texture and flavor.
