Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants (preferably day-old for best texture)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar or whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces and arrange them evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the croissant pieces. Feel free to add more chocolate or chunks for extra richness.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Pour this custard mixture evenly over the croissants and chocolate, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. The chocolate will be melted and gooey.
- Allow the bake to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with a dusting of powdered sugar or whipped cream for an elegant presentation.
Notes
- For a richer taste, add extra chocolate or use chocolate chunks.
- Best served warm with optional toppings like powdered sugar or whipped cream.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated before serving.
