- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Stir in vanilla. Gradually add flour until combined. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan to form the shortbread crust.
- In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread over the crust.
- In another bowl, combine oats, nuts, and remaining streusel ingredients. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute your favorite nuts or omit them for a nut-free version.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence.
