This irresistible chili chicken dinner is quick to prepare and packed with bold taste, making it ideal for weeknight dinners or weekend feasts. Coated in a sticky glaze, it offers a satisfying meal that everyone will love, served with rice or vegetables for a complete Asian-inspired experience.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and sear until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger. Adjust the sweetness or spice level to your preference by adding more honey or chili sauce.
  3. Add the cooked chicken to the skillet or a baking dish, then pour the sweet chili mixture over it. Toss to evenly coat all the pieces with the flavorful glaze.
  4. For a quick stovetop finish, cook for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Alternatively, place the dish in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for 10-15 minutes for a tender, caramelized finish.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, coat chicken in cornstarch before searing.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving for added flavor and presentation.
  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for juicier results.
