- 1 pound ground beef or sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until translucent.
- Transfer the cooked meat mixture to the crockpot, then add crushed tomatoes, broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- During the last 30 minutes of cooking, add broken lasagna noodles and ricotta cheese. Stir to combine.
- Once noodles are tender, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top and cover until melted.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with sautéed vegetables or plant-based protein.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, and add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
