Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 slices bacon
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- ¼ cup bourbon
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
Instructions
- Cook bacon slices until crispy, drain excess grease, crumble into small pieces, and set aside.
- In a saucepan, simmer maple syrup and bourbon until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
- Warm the milk to about 110°F, add yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and activated yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and salt, knead until smooth.
- Cover and let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll into a 12×8 inch rectangle.
- Brush with butter, add cinnamon-sugar filling, sprinkle with crumbled bacon, and drizzle with bourbon glaze.
- Roll tightly and cut into 1 to 1.5-inch slices, placing them in a greased baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Brush with additional glaze if desired.
Notes
- For extra crispy bacon, bake slices at 400°F for 15 minutes flipping halfway.
- Allow the baked rolls to cool slightly before serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days or refrigerated up to 5 days.
- Reheat in microwave for 20-30 seconds or in a 350°F oven for 10 minutes.
- Optional toppings like chopped pecans add extra crunch and flavor.
