Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz (225g) egg noodles or rice noodles
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce (optional for deeper flavor)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss with a teaspoon of sesame oil for added flavor.
- Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add more oil if needed. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent. Stir in soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce (if using), sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, tossing to coat in the glaze. Add the cooked noodles and stir to combine, ensuring each strand is coated with the sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately for optimal flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and tenderness.
- Marinate the beef for extra flavor if desired, for 15-20 minutes.
- Cook noodles just until al dente to prevent sogginess when mixing with the sauce.
- Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the glaze to taste before finalizing.
- Garnish with fresh herbs or additional sesame seeds for enhanced presentation and flavor.
