Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of warm milk
- ¼ cup of unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup of granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons of dry active yeast (1 packet)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 large eggs
- Optional toppings: honey, cinnamon sugar, or melted butter
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture, then pour into the dry ingredients.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, and shape into balls or ovals.
- Place shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and add optional toppings like cinnamon sugar or honey.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with honey or serve with preserves as desired.
Notes
- Make sure your yeast is fresh for optimal rising.
- Avoid over-flouring to keep the rolls tender.
- Customize flavors with fillings like cinnamon sugar, cheese, or dried fruits before baking.
