- 1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika (optional for added flavor)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare all ingredients as directed.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- Arrange sliced potatoes evenly in a greased baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the cooked ground beef evenly over the potatoes. Pour beef broth over the layered ingredients. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes to allow cheese to soften and turn golden.
- Remove from oven, let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot.

- You can prepare and assemble the casserole a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
