Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until leaves are pliable. Carefully peel leaves and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add ground meat, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned.
- In a bowl, combine cooked rice with cooked meat mixture.
- Place a cabbage leaf on a flat surface, spoon filling into the center, and roll up, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, until bubbling and heated through.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for a leaner option.
- Serve with crusty bread or a light salad for a complete meal.
- For a vegetarian version, use plant-based ground meat and skip the meat in the filling.
