Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Core the cabbage and blanch leaves in boiling water until soft, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Mix ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Place spoonfuls of meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Spread half the tomato sauce in a baking dish. Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down.
- Pour remaining tomato sauce over the rolls. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based options for a healthier twist.
- Serve with a side of crusty bread or a fresh salad.
