Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional for umami)
- 2 tablespoons ketchup or tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, Parmesan, egg, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly incorporated. Form into approximately 1-inch meatballs and set aside.
- Optional: Sear the meatballs in a hot skillet until browned on all sides for extra flavor.
- Place the meatballs in the slow cooker. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, ketchup, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Pour the sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they are well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meatballs are tender and the gravy is rich and flavorful.
- Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Pair with your favorite side dishes for a complete meal.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, sear the meatballs before adding to the slow cooker.
