A quick and easy recipe for baked churro bites coated in cinnamon sugar, offering a healthier twist on classic churros with crispy textures and rich flavor.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, vanilla, salt, and bring to a boil.
  3. Add flour all at once and stir vigorously until dough forms a ball and pulls away from sides of the pan.
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. Pipe strips onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping them into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Meanwhile, mix 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tsp cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  8. Once baked, immediately roll hot churro bites in cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  9. Serve warm with chocolate sauce or caramel for dipping.
