Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (for thickening)
- Optional garnishes: sesame seeds, sliced green onions
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain and wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince the garlic finely.
- Whisk together honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the sliced beef until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until aromatic. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry until tender but crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return beef to the pan. Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to coat evenly. Add the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional minute until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- Use high-heat oil like vegetable or sesame oil for better stir-frying.
- Slicing the beef thin ensures quick, even cooking.
- You can substitute broccoli with snap peas or bok choy for variety.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more honey or soy sauce to taste.
