Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) beef, thinly sliced (sirloin or flank steak works best)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by slicing the beef into thin strips and marinating briefly with soy sauce and a pinch of pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan if needed. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Pour the mixture into the skillet with vegetables and stir to combine.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Mix the cornstarch slurry into the sauce to thicken. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is glossy and coats everything evenly.
Notes
- Ensure beef slices are thin for quick cooking and maximum tenderness.
- You can substitute chicken or tofu for a different version of this dish.
- Adjust honey and soy sauce quantities to taste for sweetness and saltiness.
- If you like it spicier, add red pepper flakes or chili sauce.
