  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) beef, thinly sliced (sirloin or flank steak works best)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing the beef into thin strips and marinating briefly with soy sauce and a pinch of pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan if needed. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Pour the mixture into the skillet with vegetables and stir to combine.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Mix the cornstarch slurry into the sauce to thicken. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is glossy and coats everything evenly.

Notes

  • Ensure beef slices are thin for quick cooking and maximum tenderness.
  • You can substitute chicken or tofu for a different version of this dish.
  • Adjust honey and soy sauce quantities to taste for sweetness and saltiness.
  • If you like it spicier, add red pepper flakes or chili sauce.
