Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in lemon juice and lemon zest to infuse citrus flavor.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice into squares before serving.
Notes
- For an extra citrusy flavor, add more lemon zest according to your taste.
- Ensure the bars are completely cooled before slicing to prevent crumbling.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor; bottled juice may alter the taste slightly.
